Caregiving Anywhere

A potential solution for a home care services company to provide caregiving anywhere. This was a discovery project, where I interviewed users and stakeholders, synthesized findings, and created a potential solution shown in the form of an investment presentation and video.

The Basics

In late 2016 a leader in home care services was going through a massive transformation of their business. They planned to use technology to improve their operations and client-management model. To get funding for the massive undertaking we helped our client submit a proposal to an internal contest, which went on to win third place (out of 500 entries) and a significant amount of cash. This proposal included a 2-minute app demo video which I helped conceptualize, create and edit.

With the executive team and the project stakeholders, we began with a goal-setting exercise to identify business goals, which we grouped into themes.

Discovery

This phase consisted of field research and interviews. To gain insights on themes such as communication, technology and matching caregivers to clients, we interviewed families, caregivers, franchise owners, managers and others.

My team and I listed problems identified during field research and interviews and broke them down by business goal & user group. Matching, transparency, caregiver retention and recruiting were identified as the main themes to solve. We used a “How Might We” exercise to solve the problems and brainstormed functionality that would potentially solve the issues. We were then able to map out a potential high level IA and build a list of features and their functionalities.

User Journey

The user story was  based on business goals & the client’s areas of focus using caregivers, client/family & operations personas. Using a whiteboard I sketched a "day in the life" style user journey that my team and I then used to storyboard an  a short video of the solution.

Final Result

With input from my team, I created a 2-minute demo app video that was used in an internal competition for funding. Using Adobe XD we made the screens of the app come to life, and Premier Pro to animate the story.
